Day 02 · Fri, Nov 20
Cabo de Rama, Palolem and a boat to Butterfly Beach.
A crumbling clifftop fort with a little church and huge views over the Arabian Sea, rarely busy.
Local tip · The road is quiet but winding; ride carefully.
A crescent of sand lined with palms and huts, calm enough for swimming in winter.
Local tip · Lunch at a beach shack; prices drop the further you walk from the main entrance.
Share a fishing boat to a hidden cove reachable only by sea, with dolphin sightings often on the way.
Local tip · Shared boats are cheapest; negotiate at the north end of Palolem.
Day 03 · Sat, Nov 21
Fort Aguada, the Anjuna flea market and Vagator's cliffs.
A 17th-century Portuguese fort and lighthouse guarding the Mandovi estuary.
Local tip · Go early before the heat and the tour buses.
The Wednesday market by the beach: textiles, silver, spices and a mix of traders from across India.
Local tip · It runs on Wednesdays in season (Nov-Apr); on other days, Mapusa's Friday market is the local alternative.
Climb to the 'Dil Chahta Hai' fort for sunset over Vagator's red cliffs and the Chapora river.
Local tip · Wear grippy shoes; the laterite path is loose.
