Heritage Resort Hampi
Kamalapura road· Resort
Cottages with gardens a short drive from the royal centre; quiet for couples.
India · Ready-made itinerary
Hampi rewards slow mornings and golden evenings. This plan groups the ruins by area so you're never backtracking, puts the big temples at opening time before the heat, and saves every sunset for a different hilltop or lake.
Who it suits: Couples who like history and quiet landscapes more than nightlife; comfortable with early starts and an auto-rickshaw for the day.
3 days · GoRoam travel package · Couple
Three unhurried days among the boulder fields and temple ruins of the Vijayanagara capital, timed so you catch the soft light at sunrise and sunset, with a coracle ride on the Tungabhadra and quiet dinners for two.

The plan
Day 01 · Thu, Nov 19
Ease in around Hampi Bazaar, the living Virupaksha Temple and the boulder-strewn Hemakuta Hill.
Still in worship after 1,300 years, its 50-metre gopuram anchors the old bazaar. Inside, Lakshmi the temple elephant blesses visitors most mornings, and a pinhole in one hall projects an inverted image of the tower.
Local tip · Shoulders and knees covered, shoes left at the gate; arrive before 9:30 to see the morning puja.
Walk the kilometre-long colonnade where traders once sold gems by the heap, then climb to the giant monolithic Ganesha and the smaller Sasivekalu Ganesha on the hill's flank. Lunch on a banana-leaf thali at one of the bazaar's family kitchens.
Local tip · Midday is hot on the rocks; carry at least a litre of water each.
A low granite hill scattered with early temples, where the whole valley turns gold at dusk. It's an easy ten-minute climb from the bazaar and the best first view of Hampi.
Local tip · Sit facing west on the slabs behind the twin-tower temples; leave before full dark, the path has no lights.

Day 02 · Fri, Nov 20
The grandest temple complex in Hampi, then a coracle out on the Tungabhadra.
The finest carving in Hampi: musical pillars that ring when tapped (now roped off), and the stone chariot pictured on India's ₹50 note. Early light is softest and crowds are thin.
Local tip · The same ASI ticket covers Lotus Mahal and the Elephant Stables, but only on the day you buy it.
Spin downriver in a bamboo-and-tarp basket boat past riverside shrines and carvings you can't reach on foot. Boatmen gather near the Kodandarama ghat and the path from Vittala.
Local tip · Agree the price and route before you step in; life jackets are usually on board, ask for them.
A hilltop temple to Rama, far quieter than Matanga, with carved fish and sea creatures on the boulders and a wide sunset view east of the ruins.
Local tip · Have your auto driver wait; return autos are scarce after dark.
Day 03 · Sat, Nov 21
Palaces, the queen's bath and a last sunset by a lake.
An Indo-Islamic pavilion of arches and lotus-bud domes inside the walled women's quarter, next to the eleven domed stables built for the royal elephants.
Local tip · Tickets are valid on the day of purchase only, so buy at the Zanana Enclosure gate.
The palace chapel's walls are a stone comic strip of the Ramayana and royal processions. Ten minutes away, the Queen's Bath is a plain-fronted building hiding a carved arcaded pool.
Local tip · Lunch at a Kamalapura dhaba on the way; it's the closest village to the royal centre.
Across the river, a reservoir ringed by boulders where locals swim and couples watch the sun drop behind the rocks. A calm, green contrast to the ruins.
Local tip · Swimming isn't safe in all seasons; enjoy it from the rocks unless locals confirm it's calm.

Getting around
Hosapete is the nearest railhead (13 km). Autos and rented bicycles or scooters cover the sites.
Make it yours.
Change the dates, budget, pace or who's coming, and GoRoam re-plans every day around you.
Yes. Three days covers the Sacred Centre around Virupaksha, the Vittala complex, the Royal Centre and one evening across the river at Sanapur, without rushing. Add a fourth day for Badami or Anegundi.
October to February, when days are 25-30°C and dry. March to May is very hot, and the monsoon (June to September) is green but some boat rides stop.
Hire one auto-rickshaw for the day (about ₹1,000-1,500), or rent a scooter or bicycle. The sites are spread over about 25 km², so walking between all of them isn't practical.
Plan on roughly $500 for two: about $30-500 a night for a stay, ₹600 per foreigner (₹40 for Indians) for the combined ASI ticket (valid on the day you buy it), coracle rides around ₹400-500, and simple meals of ₹200-500.
