Why go now
The Pushkar Camel Fair runs around Kartik Purnima in late October or November: thousands of camels, folk music and a carnival in the dunes.
Pushkar is a small, holy town around a lake, with ghats, white temples and a famous market lane. It's peaceful most of the year, then transforms during the camel fair into one of India's biggest gatherings of traders, pilgrims and photographers.
