Why go now

After the monsoon the sea calms, the shacks reopen and the beach trek is green and cool. It's Goa twenty years ago.

Gokarna is a temple town on the Karnataka coast with a string of beautiful coves to its south, linked by a cliff-top walking trail. It's quieter and cheaper than Goa, with a mix of pilgrims, backpackers and yoga travellers.
